Below are my interpretations of some of the historic folding knives from the 17th and 18th century

we have archeological evidence that the friction folder was the first style of folding knife and dates to about 8 B.C., the slip joint was invented in England in the early 1600's A.D. Both mechanisms are still produced today in various designs
